Do you ever get that feeling, at about 3pm, that you could eat a horse (metaphorically speaking of course)? And in the absence of a healthy alternative, it’s that time of day when you reach for the simple, sugar filled snacks that promise to help you get through the last stretch of the day. With a little bit of preparation, you can finish your afternoon with energy to spare, and enjoy your evening meal all that much more. Of course, sometimes preparation eludes us, even with the best laid plans, and we find ourselves caught out on the verge of a massive slump – think Bridget Jones and that tub of ice cream – but that doesn’t mean we have to lose out on that energy boost.
Enter the muggin
A muggin is one of those ingenious inventions which requires a few essential ingredients, a mug, a microwave, and about 5 minutes of your precious time. What’s even better about these delicious snacks, is that they can also be super healthy. Top it with yogurt and berries and you’re in for a real treat. Whether you are short on time, or just fancy a quick and delectable snack, the muggin is the answer to your afternoon cravings.
And now for the more traditional
If you prefer to indulge in something more traditional (with our special twist, of course) then why not choose a muffin as your weapon of choice against the afternoon blues? This takes a little more planning, but once they’re cooked you can store them in the freezer and defrost as needed – if they last long enough, of course.
